Coming Soon to Lexington: Dockless Bike-Share
Learn how it can enhance your commute and multimodal options
Dockless bike-shares will be available to rent and ride all over Lexington with Spin. Spin provides our community with dockless bike-share options to get you where you need to go.
These bikes will have designated parking areas, but will not be required to park at specific stalls or bike stands. You can find the bike nearest you via the Spin app. Rides are purchased directly through the app and vouchers will be available for purchase at the Customer Service Window of Transit Center in the future in case you don’t have access to a smart phone. This program can help supplement your trips and get you to and from bus stops quicker! There should be access to these bright orange bikes all over the city. Although they are not a part of the services Lextran offers, the bikes can help creatively connect our transit system.
- Rides can start or end at the Transit Center and Loudon office. At these locations there will be specific parking areas and bikes should only be parked there.
- Bikes can be parked near our stops too! Be sure to keep sidewalks, shelters, benches and other waiting areas neat and tidy with bikes out of the way and upright.
- Responsible riding and parking bikes in desginated areas can help you earn rides and credits for future use.
- Be sure to stop your rental before boarding the bus. Bike share bicycles are too heavy for safe transport on the front of Lextran buses so leave it behind for the next person coming along to enjoy! There should be a bike available at or near your destination!
