City Sewer Project to Affect Bus Service on Avenue of Champions

The sanitary sewer replacement project underway by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is advancing further into the University of Kentucky campus area.

Starting Monday, March 9, a portion of Avenue of Champions will be reduced to one lane. This will impact service for Route 14 – UK Blue and Route 27 – UK Yellow.

Route 14 – UK Blue buses, which travel on South Limestone and typically turn right onto Avenue of Champions will instead be diverted to Vine Street, bypassing Avenue of Champions entirely. The buses will turn right onto Vine and right onto Rose Street back to regular route.

Route 27 – UK Yellow buses will also detour to Vine Street and travel right onto Rose Street back to regular route.

Bus stops on Avenue of Champions near the Gatton Student Center will be unavailable during this work. Riders are encouraged to use the existing bus stop near Jewell Hall (serviced back Route 14 – UK White) as an alternative to the others on Avenue of Champions. In addition, temporary bus stops will be added near Holmes Hall on South Limestone and near the the Singletary Center on Rose Street.

This project will continue until further notice. As it progresses down Avenue of Champions and Euclid Avenue other routes will be impacted. We will provide those updates as them come.
