Background Check

You may request a criminal record report in person by drive-thru window at the Administrative Office of the Courts, 100 Millcreek Park, Frankfort, KY. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm except on state observed holidays.   Cost: $20.00

AOCFastcheck is a new process that will greatly reduce the time required to provide criminal record reports. You can submit requests for criminal record reports and receive and email notification when the results are available.

Driving History

This website allows anyone to request Driving History Records for Kentucky drivers. Driver status, license expiration, driving restrictions, and traffic violations will be contained on the record. Cost: $5.00.

Bus Operator

This position reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for operating transit coach safely and timely over scheduled routes.

An individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have good driving record. Good public relation skills are needed. Must have ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver License. Must pass a USDOT physical exam and drug screen.

B-Mechanic

This position reports to the Director of Maintenace and/or Maintenance Foreman and performs the following:

1. Operate brake lathe, welders, bus lift, and various other types of shop equipment.

2. Complete brake service. Must be familiar with both S cam and wedge air brake systems.

3. Assist A-Mechanic in the maintenance and service of R12/R22 high pressure air conditioning systems.

4. Electrical repairs/troubleshooting using bus schematics, wiring diagrams, and various test equipment.

5. Maintain and repair suspension, steering, and drive line components.

6. Road calls and bus changes as necessary.

7. Preventive maintenance and inspections on equipment.

8. Other duties as assigned.

An individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a mechanical background; one to two years in heavy diesel maintenance. Vocational training may be substituted for one year of experience. Must have a good work record, effective verbal and written skills, and be in excellent physical and mental health. A Commercial Driver License is required. Must perform successfully on all tests if administered. Must pass USDOT physical and drug screen.

Customer Service Representative

This position reports to the Director of Community Affairs and is responsible for communicating schedule and bus route information to customers, selling fare media, and making I.D. as required.

An individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have ability to read maps, interpret schedules and be well acquainted with the Lexington area.  Good telephone etiquette and public relation skills are needed.  Must be available for flexible work schedule.   Must pass a physical and drug screen.

Service Worker

This position reports to the Director of Maintenance and/or Maintenance Foreman and performs the following:

  • Fuel and check fluid levels on equipment
  • Wash and clean coaches and other company vehicles
  • Janitorial duties related to LexTran facilities
  • Perform minor mechanical duties such as checking tires and adjusting air pressure, changing bulbs and lenses, check batteries, jump start buses, and make minor repairs.
  • Road calls and bus changes as necessary

Transit Planner

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Senior Transit Planner is to provide support for transit planning, scheduling and marketing activities using both quantitative and qualitative issues oriented analysis with the goal of implementing innovative solutions for mid and long term transit service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Develop and update the agency’s process for analyzing transit service and performance measurement, including service standards, key performance indicators, and long term system planning.
  • Maintain and update planning and project funding reports in accordance with federal and state transportation planning law, e.g. National Transit Database, etc.
  • Analyze available data and propose new data analysis tools to gain a better understanding of the needs of passengers and develop programs to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Work with the Operations Department to review research results to determine potential service revisions and support geographic information systems projects.
  • Represent Lextran on transportation planning and/or operational issues, including Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and other local planning agencies and municipalities
  •  Provide support for grant development and seek out funding for transit capital investment projects, or other funding sources as available.
  • Research national transit trends and best practices.
  • Manage Lextran’s service request process; identify problems, issues, and risks related to service planning requests and participate in the identification, documentation and communication of solutions.
  • Manage various consultant studies, special projects and other major planning and implementation activities.
  •  Act as the point of contact with transit operations staff, and community outreach staff for matters related to system and service planning.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

  •  Serves on annual Roadeo committee
  • Assists with identifying areas for strategic improvement.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a closely related field and two (2) years in transit service planning and scheduling; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties.
  • Possesses valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB

  • Frequently communicates with employees and customers in person, on the telephone, and on the computer to provide assistance.
