Fare Collection Reminders

UPDATE: Front-door boarding will resume on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Driver barriers have been installed on all vehicles to ensure passengers and operators are safe during the fare collection process.

Lextran will resume collecting fare on Sunday, January 31, 2021. Pass sales will resume online and at the Transit Center on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

It has been several months since we have sold passes or collected fare. Therefore, it is likely many people will be attempting to purchase passes at the Transit Center Customer Service Windows between January 21 and January 31 (and beyond) so here are a few reminders and new recommendations:

  • Please be patient with our customer service reps. To allow for proper social distancing there may be less customer service reps at the windows than you’d typically see. In addition to less staff, cleaning processes will take place between each transaction to keep our staff and community safe – this will cause each transaction to take a little longer than you may be used to.
  • We will not be selling 30-Day tap passes until February 1. This is due to the fact that once the pass is sold the 30-Day period begins, which would essentially waste days worth of fare.
  • We are encouraging passengers to purchase their passes online if possible or purchase a 30-Day Adult pass at any Lexington Kroger store to alleviate congestion at the customer service window at the Transit Center.
  • Finally, please purchase your fare with small bills. This will increase the speed at which our customer service reps can process transactions.
